Billy was sick for a bit and I didn't even know until Mark pointed out that her beak wasn't the right color.
It was bad nectar and I thought it didn't smell right but thought maybe they had change the formula a little bit.
She was eating but not as much as normal and had completely stopped eating the smoothie I make her which she normally LOVES.
Anyway as you can see in just one month of taking her off nectar completely and giving things like sweet potatoes and carrot juice she is all better.

Oh, poor Billy! It just goes to show that we're ALL at the mercy of our food inspectors. Wonderful that ours aren't at work right now because our childish government shut itself down! Already had a salmonella outbreak in the West. I would say for all our sakes that food inspection is a necessity, wouldn't you?

I'm just so thankful to Mark for pointing it out or who knows what would have happened. I don't even want to think about it. Lories are so hard to balance their diet. Specialty foods. Nectar has never been her main diet after losing Robby from too much sugar in his blood but I do give it to her at treat time. I've just started her back on a new brand so will watch much more closely.
