Callie had her check-up Empty Callie had her check-up

Well, I took Callie today to Cornell for her yearly. They took blood and screened her for Chlamydia and Psittacosis, the results of which won't be back for a while. She's in excellent feather! -- something I'm very pleased about since 'toos are known for their feather destruction. And except for a bit of a vitamin A deficiency, she's the picture of health! Cool Cool Cool

Yay Callie! Though of course she's in excellent health - she has Chris for a Mommy! As for the feathers, she has to keep them in superb condition so that she can be a cuddly, puffy, marshmallow pillow bird Smile

Yeah . . . the sweet potatoes are meeting with mixed interest. She won't eat the pieces that go into her dish, anymore. I nuked one and ate it with her which worked at first, but she's on to met there too. Any suggestions on making yams and carrots more palatable for the finicky 'too?

After regurgitating on both Dad and me, Callie laid her first egg tonight! Anybody know how many more we can expect?

I wish she would've told me sooner -- it would've saved me some money getting that DNA test! Okay, no additional egg tonight. Are they supposed to lay one a day? scratch

I'm thinking that one was it for this year. Nothing again tonight and her energy level is WAY past what it was normally before this round of hormones! Oh well. I was hoping for an egg in one piece to keep next to Tiki's, but I guess I'll have to wait. Giggle

Yeah, that's kinda what I was thinking, Catherine. Just as well -- I don't think my nerves could take any more. You'd think I was the one having the egg! Laughing

Oh boy, has it been a while! Callie laid a second egg about a month later. It didn't go as well -- came out kinda sideways and caused her no little distress. Long story short, her hormonal behavior came back with a vengeance, not allowing her vent to heal properly. So, she got some hormone shots and now we're undergoing some serious behavior modification. The shots only last about a month, so wish us luck!

She seems better, and is learning quickly. As soon as she starts panting, we put her in her cage. No muss, no fuss. Then after a few minutes we take her out again. She's figuring out that if she pulls the sexual behavior, her out-time gets cut. So far, so good!

So-so right now. The luprin wore off and I've noticed a little aggression, a little panting again. Of course, I've been stressed out of my mind the past few weeks, and she's probably picking up on that, too.
