Okay so I guess I'll start.
I've been a little down in the dumps lately.
I do have lots of pictures to post just trying to stay busy and haven't been on the computer a lot.
I got a shock last week from my boss that he is going to do cut backs and YES that means I am most likely going to be without a job within the next few months.
BUT I do have some ideas so maybe it's a blessing in disguise.
I do have part time work lined up working for my son.
And I do have the toys and soon will have more time to work on them.
Maybe even other website only this time called Billy bird toys.
And my daughter inlaw and I are signing up for an online course taking php and mysql which begins June 15th.
Hopefully the toys and maybe a bit of website work will help with the financial situation.

It has been quiet, but I can promise that I've been diligently hovering Smile ! Very sorry to hear about your job - I hope you find something fun and fulfilling to replace it.

I'm sending a snuggly Duck-in-shirt (and he HAS been extra snuggly)

thanks Andrea I really needed that Duck in a shirt.
I'm trying really hard to not get depressed about this but it's a tough situation.
At 54 it's not going to be easy finding a full time position.
And I really don't want to work for anyone anymore. I've been a very faithful employee for 12 years to this company and always feeling bad when I can't get to the office because of the travel time. but I do my work and beyond. Always have.
Now that reality has hit I am sourcing things that I want to do as opposed to just taking what's available.

That sounds like an excellent idea! Have you considered freelance? Or bird-sitting full time?

Bird sitting is okay but would take a lot of work to setup a special room for it.
Would need to be in the basement and special lighting.
Not an expense I can afford at the moment.

Sorry to hear about your job Carol.
I can relate to your situation. I was laid off from
my job two weeks ago as well. It is hard to figure
where to go from here at age 58 so I understand what you
    are feeling.
Are you going to be able to collect EI or is the company
big enough that you receive a severence package?
Right now I have Miss Tippy Macaw for a month as well as Kira
and when Father Bob gets back from Europe he thinks he might
take Hawkeye as well. I hope so because Kira and Hawkeye are buddies.
When I get a chance I will send a couple of pictures.

    Oh Catherine I'm so sorry.
Unfortunately the company is not big enough for severance and since I have part time to go to I don't think UI is an option. I just have to try and figure out if I have to go out and get another part time job or if the toys will fill the gap. And whatever else comes my way.

It might not hurt to apply for EI. I think it is based on hours worked
    so nothing ventured nothing gained.
Maybe Mark could hire us to take care of babies.....like at the hospital
we could sit in the nursery in rocking chairs and feed and rock the baby birdies Smile

It has been quiet! But like Andrea, I've been lurking around the site to keep checking in. I guess we're all going through some hard times; my Aunt died last Thursday (funeral yesterday) and we just found out that my husband's being kicked out of the Navy because of someone else's mistake. He's officially being let go in November. Sad
