    Birdy-sitting Empty Birdy-sitting

Post by Gail Fri Jul 22, 2011 2:51 pm

We have a little birdie visitor at our house this week.

It's my sister in law's new love bird named Jelly Bean. It is really cute and super friendly, but it's not properly hand trained, so while it is with me this weekend I am going to try and school it on stepping up.

I am having conniptions though... the cage she has for it is totally inappropriate, the bars are too far apart and it keeps trying to squeeze itself out between the bars. I also think its having to really work to get its little feet to stretch far enough to get around.... will have to have a chat with her on Monday when she comes to pick it up. Surprised

Jelly bean is a super name for a lovebird Smile

Cages are hard sometimes for a new bird owner - they are told to get 'the biggest they can afford' but what they should be told is 'the biggest they can afford with the proper bar spacing'. At least she has someone to give her tips!

Wow it must be new lovebird week. Baby's mom Andrea is picking up a new baby lovebird on Sunday. And did I mention she's moving in with us in Sept. That means 9 birds under one roof soon Giggle

Jelly bean is such a sweet name. What kind of lovebird is it?

Jelly Bean is a peach faced love bird... she is home now and already in a new cage. My sister-in-law was beside herself when she saw the bird jamming its head out between the bars.

I think Jelly Bean is coming back this weekend for a 1 week visit this time... I will try and figure out how to get some pictures up on the site here. yes

We use photobucket for uploading pictures and then use the code for forums. Its really easy just make sure they aren't too big.
