I have a question for everyone.....

You all know i have been looking for an African grey for quite a while now. Well, i know of one that is for sale with cage for a good price...$650.00 and he is 14 yrs old. I purchased all my birds as babies and would love to give an older bird a "FOREVER" home. She actually has a few birds she is selling,i don't know "why" though. Anyways, i'm off work till Sept so money is tighttttt!!! I sent her a reply email and told her a "little about me" and asked if she would be willing to make a payment arrangement???

Do you think (you being the seller) would appreciate it or not so much lol? I just figured i would be bluntly honest with her and assure her he would be well looked after and loved and gets the time he deserves(as she puts it). I'm hopeing it's not about the money and she wants this bird to have a good home Wink

Personally, I would be fine with that. If she is focused on the welfare of the birds, she should be, too. Good luck!

I would say based on the price she is asking, she is not super concerned about money. After all, we all know the real cost of bringing home a new feathered flock member.

I hope this works out for you? Have you met him yet?

I would also ask if you could visit a few times before any money exchanges hands. You might find that this bird is not going to fit in. I suggest that to anyone who is taking on a rehomed bird or even a new baby. The person relinquishing the bird should not disapprove if she is looking out for the birds interest. Find out as much as you can about the bird before taking him/her into your home...especially vet checks unless you know this person personally please take extra precautions for your own birds health. Here is a link to a form that the club offers to anyone relinquishing a bird that gives the new owner enough info to help with the transition. http://www.parrotclub.ca/documents/relinquishingform.pdf

Thanx for your help and advise Carol but she never emailed me or called Sad . I will keep searching though. All she said in the ads for re- homing them was "due to her situation" and someone to give them the attention and love they deserve. So, who knows???? I did offer to meet a few times and see how it went but she doesn't know me from a whole in the ground either.

Kimmie if I hear of a Grey in need I will keep you posted. We get MANY emails from people needing to rehome for MANY reasons. There is one at Mark's but he's quite cage aggressive so not sure if it's a good choice. Beautiful bird but mean in or on his cage Sad
