Just went on a date Empty Just went on a date

Post by Karen Sun Sep 09, 2012 5:01 pm

Had a lunch date. All I can say is that I gota free steak and it wasn't horrible. Definitely no love connection for me. I did manage to get away without the awkward hug or kiss goodbye. But I got the feeling that he liked me way more than I liked him.

Any advice at how to let him go without beng rude or hurting his feelings? It's been so long since I've dated. I have very little experience in this area. Shocked

He just sent me a message saying that he had a wonderful time and would like to go out again soon. Oy. I wish I liked him even a little. I could use the company. But I don't want to lead him on.

I don't have much experience either ( found Mr Phil on eHarmony), but maybe just tell him the truth - that it was nice meeting him but you didn't feel a connection and it would be inappropriate to lead him on.

That's exactly what I was thinking of saying.
I hate being alone, but dating sucks too.

I remember when you first met Mr Phil. Seems like it was such a very long time ago. I'm so glad you're doing so well.

Omg!!!!! I just checked his Facebook page. He had invited me to a party at his friend's house last night but I wanted to meet over coffee or lunch first. There is a pic on his FB page of a guy who got so drunk that he crapped his pants. Actually, he was sitting on a plastic chair on the deck with his pants pulled down just above his knees. He was sitting in his own crap and it was running down the chair!

O M G! Why would you hang around with people like that? Why would you take a pic of that? Why would you post it on your FB page?????

I no longer feel bad about not being interested. He's soooooo not for me!!

But he took it well. I said I'd like to be his friend but just didn't feel any spark. He just never wrote back. That's a good thing. I've done my very best to politely tell guys that I was not right for them before and they always call me a b*tch or something. I know rejection sucks but I hate when they get nasty.

Spoke too soon. Lol. He just sent me a "don't worry about it. I'm used to rejection." guilt trip email.
Ugh. Are there any decent, sane men out there??????

Oy. Rolling Eyes Men never take rejection well. They can reject us, but we're always supposed to find them irresistible. At least you didn't find a pile of poo on your doorstep or something like that. Or, he could've left that guy from the party on your doorstep! Laughing

Yay on the date, boo on the guilt trip. You did right on being honest. And heck, you could even tell him that his facebook pic is a major turn off to women. Wink *hug* there are no sane men, hun. Just those that are less stupid than others. <3 Giggle I wouldn't know what to do with myself if I were ever back on the dating scene.

Funny you should say that. I actually did respond to his guilt trip with a little kind advice. Because he said the pic wasn't him so he didn't think I should care. I said that most women would find that very offensive and not funny. Made sure to say that I was only offering my own point of view and not criticizing him. He seemed like a half decent guy. Maybe he'll learn something from this.

I should have told him how grossed out I was by the food getting caught in his overgrown goatee, but I thought that might be too much for him. Giggle
