Ok I said no more birds but this is maybe just temporary. About 3 weeks ago one of our customers wanted to hold a little linnie. Well it tried to get away as all babies usually do and I did tell him keep her away from the cage or she's going to try to get back to it. Anyway he tried to catch her which led to the poor little bird going up and then down hard to the floor landing on her side. She is not doing great in the large cage so I brought her home and will see how she does here in a small cage with food and water on the floor for her. She can't climb or perch. Right now she's so scared she's hiding in the happy hut and won't come out. Hopefully she'll settle better tomorrow and come out and eat. Will keep you all posted and when she's more comfortable I will take some pictures of her. I named her Mindy, not sure why but the name just came out when I looked in her big eyes and I said "And I shall call you....hmmmm??? Mindy?" I have her in a small cage beside Georgie and he's been calling to her and can't seem to understand why she doesn't yell back

Re: My New Bird
Poor Mindy! Did she break anything in her fall, or does she just need some confidence?

Re: My New Bird
Today she is climbing all over the cage but is very clumsy. Over the next few days I will try to add things to the sides of the cage to make it wheel chair assessible not sure what is or isn't broken with her. I just know she can't make her legs and feet work the way they should. Mark thinks spine injury.

Poor girl! I hope that it's maybe just spinal swelling and when it subsides she'll get full mobility back. Give her kisses or rubs or snuggles or whatever she likes on my behalf, please.

Oh!! Give her some for me, too. And ignore my question in the other thread, lol. Poor little thing. I don't know how anyone is financially, but shouldn't she maybe go to Guelph and get an x-ray?

Re: My New Bird
I thought of an X-ray if she continued the way she was at the store. But Chris I would NEVER take her to Guelph. Dr. Tucker would take care of her better.
She doing so well I think she wasn't getting enough food because the bowl was too high for her. So without nutrition that she needs to mend she didn't have a chance to heal. I've never seen a Linnie eat this much. She's doing amazing. She's even walking with both legs. Slowly but she's doing it.

Oh that's awesome! I mean about Mindy, not Guelph. I always thought Guelph was the equivalent of Cornell? Oh well. Not that I'd ever take mine there either, lol.

Re: My New Bird
I see no signs of the injury now. I put food in the dish that came with the cage and moved the perch close to it and she is having no problem getting to it at all. Tomorrow I will try water in the other dish but I may need to buy another rope perch.
